There are moving tributes

There’s so much to write about and yet the compulsion towards one theme, one tribute, one distinction and one lament prevails."Published: Mar 23, 2019, 12:05 am IST Updated: Mar 23, 2019, 12:05 am IST British democracy will certainly outlast Ms May and the foolish maze she has made of Brexit.Much wickeder than being runners through the rye, but the point of mentioning it is that I am absolutely certain that whatever transgressions I have been guilty of in my life since then — and I am sure Ahura Mazda can and will call several witnesses — I am certain it was Darryl’s last. His inclination to fairness was inherent in his personality, but through university and the years after we discussed our struggles to understand Marxism, Socialism, the Maoist and Leninist heresies and other contentions in the library of asp***t world-changers.

At his funeral and at the memorial service in his native Bandra, there were encomiums galore. Poor Theresa has fallen through the rabbit hole into Blunderland. I kept discreetly away. On the night he died, a sleepless early morning in fact, I wrote this “sonnet” for Darryl: (forgive the verse yaar, absorb the sentiment — fd)We live in other people’s memoriesAs who we are and things that we have doneAs fluid thoughts and impressions that freezeIn clichés at the setting of the sunThis morning isn’t just another day —A part of me is missing, gone astrayThe Obits speak of Darryl’s attributesAndachievements. (Adil Jussawalla, our gang-mate, invented a name for it too rude to recall here!)Though I worked for several Indian newspapers scribbling columns, I never worked for Darryl though we had vigorous and mostly supportive discussions about everything from love and rationality to politics. British democracy will certainly outlast Ms May and the foolish maze she has made of Brexit.Gentle reader, everyone loses friends, relatives, lovers, especially as you get to a particular age.It isn’t dead, it’s in my memory.Let me start with Theresa May.After resigning from his editorship, Darryl turned his mind and political skills to battles of the environment — local and global. Trump Junior is not someone to take advice from or agree with. The incident to early wickedness to which I refer occurred in our final days in Cambridge, where we had met three years previously, part of the small circle of Indians in our first year at the university. There have been many respectful and reverential ones in all the Indian newspapers as Darryl was once the Mumbai editor of the Times of India and worked for the Indian Express before that. She is, though she may be a perfectly good human being, as a Prime Minister of Britain no better than Alice in Wonderland. One has to laugh because it’s the only antidote to crying. I will begin the intended substance of this column by confessing one such sin or misdemeanour because it was executed in the company of a dear, lifelong friend. We discussed his battles for justice for mill workers, fishermen and slum dwellers.

There she meets Mad Hatters, impatient rabbits checking the timetables of Brexit, Queens with double-tongues, walruses of deceit and carpenters who wield hacksaws to destroy. Ms May is certainly not crying and, on evidence, she hasn’t much of a sense of humour — or for that matter of rhythm. He started his journalistic career with the Kent Messenger after leaving University.British Prime Minister Theresa May (Photo: AFP)“A time to be born, a time to dietimeto tell the truth, a time to lieA time to sharelove —Too short my friend,When the push of timeComes to shove…”From Theri Marco Polo by BachchooAt times, gentle reader, a column gets compelled.Whose sincere laugh will always be with me. The jokes she memorises for her speeches in Parliament are dreamt up by speechwriters and when she attempted to match rhythms and dance for the cameras on an African visit, she ended up looking like Amit Shah attempting to rock and roll.Farrukh DhondyIn his words: "I am just a professional writer, which means I don't do blogs and try and get money for whatever I write. I can’t be precise, but I think three or four bikes were sent to such watery graves. Like entering the ring with Muhammad Ali.This is not, gentle reader, an obituary. And Alice was much more entertaining. I don’t suppose that sort of loss becomes easier.Asked by an interlocutor on a TV show if she had ever done anything mischievous or wicked in her childhood, she didn’t admit to shoplifting toffees — because she wouldn’t have done any such thing — but recalled running through fields of grown wheat (or corn) when the farmer didn’t want her and her companions to.I warrant that every reader will be able to admit to having done far worse in their childhood Wholesale Knitted Fabric or teens or early twenties. These were not routine tributes but descriptions of experience. A friend who died last week and whom I don’t suppose I shall stop missing as long as I live.I felt like saying “earth receive an honoured guest, Darryl D’Monte is laid to rest”, but I was deprived of that reference to Auden by Darryl’s wish to be cremated and not buried.

There are moving tributesFrom friends and colleagues, listing all his skillsAnd battling commitments — which are all trueBut to me, all these achievements are frillsAnd not the fabric of the friend I knew. I argued with him about everything else, but was, through ignorance, at a complete disadvantage when discussing these.end-ofTags: theresa may, brexit. Even an idiot such as Donald Trump’s son writes a column in a newspaper pronouncing her a blundering fool who is engineering the death of British democracy. In spoken and written testimony, his friends and colleagues talked about his outstanding and courageous contributions to journalism; of his fairness, his encouragement of young talent; his modesty, his gentle and therefore winning attitude to all dissent.

Despite being fascinated with movies

He recalls, “When I look back at last 29 years, I feel those years have given me everything in return. Her death really shook him up.Recently, in collaboration with an alcohol brand, he worked with mirrors to create the ceiling of the bar. He really believes in it. “She was a big influence in my work and my career. I had not studied fashion.B-Town and Manish have a lasting connection.Talking about his journey and love for fashion, Manish recalls, “Despite being fascinated with movies, I always fancied fabric and colour. I was fascinated with colours and sketching and realised it would really work if I could design غير مجاز مي باشدtumes. Keep your eye on the work. “For me, intuition is all about what I feel, what I sense, what I perceive, what I gather,” he says, adding that intuition to him also means reflection on one’s own thoughts from within. “When I am designing for a film, it39;s not about ‘Oh!

This girl is a diva’ it’s about the character,” he says in response to how his outfits become a trend in not just B-Town but in the fashion world. When Manish began his career, Sridevi was already a star. I even learned painting although I learnt sketching in school.”When you plan too much, it doesn39;t really work, he feels. “Just that sometimes I wish I could get her back,” he expresses.” Manish misses her a lot; her voice and the conversations they would have.Manish was just 25 when he ventured into the world of designing غير مجاز مي باشدtumes for Bollywood celebrities."end-ofTags: manish malhotra, shiffon sarees, bollywood celebrities. Expressing his views, he says,“I think your focus is very important. When he designs an outfit for a bride, it is all about the bride and her character. | SEAN COLIN YOUNG Published: Mar 19, 2019, 1:16 am IST Updated: Mar 19, 2019, 1:16 am IST India’s favourite designer goes candid about his intuition and late Sridevi as his inspiration.”On a concluding note, he advises all upcoming designers to be totally focused on their work eventhough, its a world of glamour. I wanted to make a difference the way غير مجاز مي باشدtumes are seen and finally got into movies in 1990,” he remembers. It is best to avoid getting entrapped by glamour and fun that comes with everything. On the issue of gender parity in the fashion world, he says, “I think fashion has been accepting of any kind of ***uality and gender identification and I don’t think there’s gender inequality in fashion world at all. “So I think you need to be true to your job, to what is being asked of you.

In fact, it was his love for movies that made him what he is today. For Manish, intuition is all about inner self, inner thought and inner mind. He worked with her for almost 30 years, and the two would often bond, memories he cherishes to this day and recalls with a sombre look her untimely death that left many shocked and shattered. “I remember meeting her for the first time and right up to the day she expired, I spoke to her that morning”, he remembers. For last 14 years his label offers bridal, couture, diffusion polyester spandex material and men’s wear collections and retails at two stores in Mumbai and Delhi. “I love mirrors and reflective mirror is something that shows and multiplies vision,” he says. He first designed outfits for Juhi Chawla in the film Swarg (1990) and since then, it has been almost 30 years he has been designing attires for films. One’s intution, gut, he believes, lights a spark and creates wonders. That39;s the way I39;ve been brought up and that39;s the way I am,” Manish quips.”During his college days, he was a model and was working in a boutique as well as in movies. And then he met Sridevi,  the inspiration and driving force behind many of his iconic designs, including the ***y shiffon sarees he created for her.Since his first work as a غير مجاز مي باشدtume designer with Juhi, he has been the ‘go-to-designer’ for any big occasion.
